Architecture Designed for Accountability

The supplied reference architecture shows a multi-Availability-Zone application environment, security controls, audit logging, and cross-region backup.

In this reference design, an Application Load Balancer distributes requests to EC2 application servers in private subnets across two Availability Zones. Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL provides Multi-AZ database resilience.

Amazon S3 stores supporting files with encryption and versioning. The diagram also identifies a disaster-recovery replica in the Ireland Region.

AWS Identity and Access Management supports permissions and multifactor authentication, while AWS KMS supports encryption-key management. Amazon GuardDuty supplies threat findings to AWS Security Hub.

Amazon CloudWatch collects operational metrics and alarms. AWS CloudTrail and VPC Flow Logs provide additional records for reviewing activity and network traffic.
